All Aboard: Trains from Spain to the UK

Last week I have been reading on business news and train news about the idea that Eurostar could possibly have a direct competitor for the first time in 27 years since the launch of Eurostar trains in 1994 and the trains will be from the Kingdom of Spain.

Renfe: Hola, I am Renfe from Spain and I would love to travel to the UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§to compete with Eurostar. Trains from the UK to Spain via France. πŸš„πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΈEurostar: Challenge is accepted. I have been wanting competition for a long time. πŸš„πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Based on my imaginations regarding the news about the idea of travelling to Spanish destinations via trains from the UK. πŸš„πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

This is very good idea. The idea of going to Spain from the UK with trains. 27 years on since the launch of Eurostar in 1994. Eurostar never had an direct competition with any European train operator.

Even there was almost the plan for Eurostar to have direct competition with German rail operator DB but that have not materialised unfortunately. πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Now the idea of Eurostar going to Germany will happen in next few years with the merger of Thalys which I talked about it on my previous blog post with Eurostar trains expanding the routes to Germany, I guess train destinations from Spain will also happen. Eurostar would had expand the train routes to Spain as well. Since Renfe (Spanish Rail operator) expressed the interest of wanting to expand train routes from Spain to the UK across the English Channel (the Channel), they have a direct train route to France with the partnership of SNCF. renfe-sncf.com renfe-sncf.com

So for that to happen given the UK is no longer an member of the European Union and it was not member of the Schengen Area like other EU countries in mainland Europe: France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, etc. There would have to be an cross Channel border control (Juxtaposed controls) as there are border controls in Eurostar terminals from the the UK to continental Europe so that would be something for Renfe to work out something out for British travellers who want to come to Espana without booking airline flight tickets to go on the plane (the likes of EasyJet, British Airways, Iberia & Vueling) & same goes for Spanish travellers. Especially that going on the train than on the plane is environmental friendly in order to minimise carbon footprint. Even the train journeys from the UK to Spain via France will be long. Longer journeys.

So yeah. Good news for the business if that is made in reality. Especially that I am a train lover. πŸš„πŸ™‚πŸ˜€

Perhaps one day I would love to visit Spain again. Without going on the plane and that I could also visit to destinations in Spain like Madrid and visiting Barcelona again. πŸ˜€πŸ™‚πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ
