Bullfighting: Outdated Spanish cultural tradition and bloodsport

Bullfighting: Outdated Spanish cultural tradition and bloodsport

Since I understand that the bullfighting is Spanish cultural tradition. However it is completely outdated & I believe that you cannot have a cultural tradition based on animal cruelty & bloodsport. This is why I am against bullfighting.

Plus when I was kid, I recall watching the episode of Looney Tunes (I love Looney Tunes by the way). Showing the episode called “Bully for Bugs”. Toro the bull and Bugs Bunny being the matador in Mexico at bullring stadium. I can’t comprehend why bullfighting was portrayed & glorified.

Portraying it as “fun”. There is no fun in that when it comes to animal cruelty & blood sports since bullfighting is part of it.

Furthermore, Catalonia is the only Spanish region to ban bullfighting which the Spanish government is not impressed about it. en.wikipedia.org

They (the government of Spain) even overturned the ban in 2016 but so far, no bullfighting have took place in Catalonia despite the ban is still in effect and it has been in effect since 2012. 🇪🇸

So for the people to attend bullring (stadium) and supporting bullfighting & opposing the ban on bullfighting, they are tend to be conservative. Even those who are non Spaniards.

Example: Boris Johnson. t.co

It is hard to believe that then the UK Foreign Secretary now the UK Prime Minister in 2017 supported bullfighting that upsets the Spanish guests. Still to this day, Boris Johnson supports bullfighting & that he said bid to ban bullfighting is “political correctness gone mad”.

And recently, bullfighting have resumed in Spain and the man was gored to death by a bull. google.co.uk google.co.uk First time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic last year & lockdown measures as it had severely affected the revenues of the bullfighting businesses in Spain. amp.france24.com pri.org politico.eu

Not even the pandemic can put a end to the brutal business of killing innocent cattle with sword. So because of that, bullfighting should had been ended by the pandemic. I hope one day, the bullfighting activities across Spain and other Spanish speaking countries & even Portugal & France will eventually be over.

For those who supports bullfighting, not only they support the blood sport, they are automatically supporting animal cruelty. Like I said at the start of the paragraph, you cannot have a cultural tradition that is based on animal cruelty and bloodsport. Whether is Spain or any country, animal cruelty & bloodsports in all forms is never acceptable. Killing an innocent bulls all for entertainment. For that, I do not think that bullfighting is an entertainment. I even have two Spanish friends (one who lives in Barcelona, Catalonia & another one who lives in Almeria, Andalusia) who are strongly against bullfighting.

That is all I can say about my opinion on Bullfighting.
