Turkey and the possible return to Eurovision

Will there be Turkish Delight finally in the Eurovision Song Contest?

According to the Eurovision article four months ago, EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and the Turkish broadcaster TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation) were in the talks about the country potentially returning to the contest in 2022 next year.

The last time Turkey participated in the ESC was 9 years ago in 2012. Nearly 10 years. The Turks withdrew from Eurovision because of the dissatisfaction of the rules of the competition and that there were no TV broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest on TRT (meaning Turkish viewers not being available to watch on TV in Turkey). Turkey didn’t return to the 2014 contest because of the same reason.

Turkey has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in 1975.

So now a change of tune from the Turkish broadcaster about their interests of wanting to see Turkey back in the Eurovision Song Contest & being part of the Eurovision family again. At least TRT is still an member of EBU despite the withdrawal from the ESC.

I say why not? I don’t mind Turks coming back to the ESC (Eurovision Song Contest). πŸŽ΅πŸŽΆπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

And if that does happen at some point next year (hopefully) or any year for Turkey to return to the Song Contest, it would be good news for Turkish viewers and Turkish Eurovision fans. It will truly be an homecoming for Turkish competitor (singer or band) to perform his/her/their original song for Eurovision.

When Turkey do return to Eurovision eventually, I will be eating a sweet from Turkey. Turkish delight. πŸ˜€πŸ™‚πŸŽΆπŸŽ΅πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·
