China: investment or debt trap diplomacy?

China. The world’s second largest economy & rising superpower. 🇨🇳

We are aware of the Belt & Road initiative & that it  is a infrastructure project & that it can open up economically to infrastructure investment, ports, skyscrapers, railroads, roads, airports, dams and railroad tunnels across the countries outside China. Although it can be good in economic sense as it is a global infrastructure development strategy, there are things that we won’t hear from the mainstream news about what China is really doing with Africa & other countries in different continents when they are in debt to the Chinese.

Take for example. Zambia.

So China is seeking influence in Africa & the world with the debt trap diplomacy while doing all in the name of “trade & investment” with some nations. That happens in Zambia which anyone is concerned that the country has been “colonised” by the Chinese. It really makes no sense. It is almost if the country (Zambia) is a Chinese country (which for me, it does unfortunately).

in other words, China is approaching with neo colonialism mindset  in Africa like European empires like the British empire & the French empire. I wish I didn’t believe all of this but it is true. It is not an conspiracy theory. The African continent had been colonised by European powers in the 19th Century. Now in the 21st century, China wants to follow suit with Chinese imperialism? It makes no sense.

China can work with countries based on mutual interests & even projects but if it is to do a Chinese colonialism or worse, debt trap diplomacy to get poor third countries (like countries from Africa) in debt then it is very concerning & shocking motive by the Chinese. Given China is projected to take over America as the world’s superpower & the 1st largest economy  sometime either this decade or next decade (2030s). The country who is communist authoritarian country who has no press freedom or democracy. The People’s Republic of China.

Now getting back to countries who is in debt to China. There are some countries.

Kenya, Angola, Djibouti, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Maldives, Myanmar, Papa New Guinea, Laos, Nigeria, Samoa, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, Fiji, South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon, Mozambique, Ethiopia. The list goes on. That is all I can think of.

Sources:

Conclusion: China is definitely seeking influence in places in the World with neo imperialism altitude & the method to debt trap any country in the name of partnership & good relations with the country with the biggest economy.

Particularly in Africa which is unfortunate and sad. Given some African countries really have mismanagement problem regarding corruption & yet it makes worse by allowing the Chinese to dictate them with investment in the name of debt trap diplomacy. Investment is nothing wrong. Debt trap with diplomacy is wrong.

I hope everyone can wake up to the fact that China is not what we think of in terms of investment infrastructure projects like Belt and Road Initiative.

Withdraw cash from Credit Card?

mrlimitless95.blogspot.com I previously wrote a blog post about Credit Card.

Today’s blog post is a follow up blog.

Would you withdraw cash from credit card? If no then good, I wouldn’t recommend it at all. If yes, then I afraid you have not seem to fully understand that credit card is for emergency & building credit. It is not a debit card. It has credit limit. It would mean rising up more debt with interest being added & that you would be so caught in the awful situation financially in terms of paying off debt (credit card bill, minimum amount & all of that & monthly, credit card provider would make a purchase of standard purchase interest).

Since I am credit card sceptic, as for withdrawing cash on credit card. I say in my blog post that credit card is not “spending” card. It’s not debit card & that many people gets caught up in debt (credit card debt). So anyone can withdraw cash but there is a cost with fees as it is no ordinary cash withdrawal. It’s different if cashpoint has a charging fee.

Cash advances are the method of credit card cash withdrawal. It has limits. No grace periods or rewards.

That’s how credit card is tricky & that I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use credit card.

Withdraw cash from credit card? Absolutely not. I wouldn’t count on it. So don’t count on it. Treating credit card as if it is a spending card.

I changed my mind on Google Adsense

Blog announcement

My dear readers.

You might recall when I talked about me looking for Google Adsense alternatives almost a month ago after that I was not quite happy with the long duration of Google Adsense. If you are not aware of it, you can read my previous blog post about it.

Well I have made up my final decision. I changed my mind on Google Adsense.

Due to me originally stopped having interest on Google Adsense & I spent weeks & weeks, searching for Google Adsense alternative which I was not successful to find (some of them not responding & some of them didn’t accepted me) & that I never stopped trying to find one as I do not give up. I made my decision that I will not continue to seek for alternatives for Google Adsense. That means with my blog ready to show ads despite I didn’t liked waiting for it for 3 months because of duration (& I think Google is not true to their own words that took more than 2 weeks which I started in late January this year) so yeah, it is official, I changed my mind about Adsense & that I will use them so I can earn money online as an blogger.

🙂😀

Last couple of days wasn’t easy for me to make decisions like this so I feel that I made a right decision & that maybe I shouldn’t had to look for alternatives than Google Adsense.

So that means I will not continue to look for Google Adsense alternatives and that my blog post of me looking for Google Adsense alternatives are now discarded. mrlimitless95.blogspot.com

Here are the screenshot photos of it.

Next couple of days, I will write a blog post when I will begin placing adverts on my blog. For now, I am glad that the wait is over. 🙂

No to racism & systemic racism

Last month on 21st March (International Day against Racism).

I know from my personal experience that I have been victim of racism (once before). I am telling you that was ugly. Terribly ugly. Racism is ugly.

This was me being victimised of racism (being verbally abused racially in 2016 following the Brexit vote that drove up rise of hate crime). newsroom.iza.org hrw.org google.co.uk google.co.uk I even recall telling my blogger friend Roger Tichborne about it & he did published on his own blog the Barnet Eye. barneteye.blogspot.com

It was so unfortunate that it really happened to me for first time in my life in the multicultural country (the United Kingdom) that I became victimised of racism. I hope and pray that shouldn’t happen to me again. Even if I am going to be treated awfully & unfairly because I am black & that I am likely to be discriminated mostly based on my race/ethnicity/skin colour. Good for my friend who assured me by saying to me in his blog post that I should feel pity for people who is racist & not educated instead of getting upset or angry. That can be the only way to break the cycle of racism based on their ignorance. Which everyone can do anything that by not having to be upset or angry if someone is a racist & that he/she do feel pity for the person & possibly report to the authorities if it does escalate into abuse (verbal abuse, physical abuse or online abuse which the person can block person if he/she made outrageously remarks that is shockingly racist).

I even published my previous blog post of why the immigration system in the UK is ungrateful. Go and read it if you want to know more about it. mrlimitless95.blogspot.com

Furthermore, the recent news about Meghan Markle interview with Oprah Winfrey. google.co.uk

The media outlets in the UK (who are Right Wing/Conservative) cannot stand Meghan Markle cos she’s black (mixed race), being married to Prince Harry & critics like Piers Morgan had been messing around, saying “how awful is Meghan Markle” this and that. No wonder the Oprah Winfrey interview highlighted with shocking revelation that there is systemic racism in the royal setting (in the Royal Family) regarding baby Archie & skin colour. That interview had really stunned me with shocking revelations about racism in the royal setting. I know for the fact that there is institutional racism in institutions (some institutions) like the Metropolitan Police in London for example. Racism within the royal setting (or the Firm) in the monarchy never crossed my mind despite there are historical facts about how racism had played its part alongside colonialism (or imperialism) in the British Empire.

Recently the government here in the UK have foolishly published the hogwash report, denying that there is racism (in all forms including systemic racism). Just to gaslight everyone given it is the diverse nation with many people with different backgrounds and cultures. bbc.co.uk amp.theguardian.com npr.org aljazeera.com

google.co.uk No wonder the experts from the UN (United Nations) were not happy about it. The hogwash UK government report on racism & the senior adviser who is from ethnic minority background (& black) had recently stepped down. google.co.uk google.co.uk news.sky.com

Even the PM Boris Johnson had previously said stuff that were racist.

For very long time, blacks have been mostly been targeted to be victims of racism. George Floyd incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota almost a year had sparked a big conversation in America, Britain & the world. It is an reminder that Black lives really do matter. Since that blacks in USA & other parts of the world including here in the UK have been victim of all sorts of racism including racial profiling, hate crime & systemic  racism. Recently & sadly, anti Asian racism is on the rise increasingly. Because of racial slurs/remarks by racists, bigots, xenophobes & Donald Trump at the start of the Covid pandemic, Asians and Asian Americans have been horribly targeted. The recent incident in Atlanta, Georgia, USA shows racism in any forms is never acceptable. Especially with recent news from 13 years old boy who was Latino to recent gun incident with Sikhs being named as victims at FedEx building. amp.cnn.com apnews.com Asian Americans & African Americans (black Americans) being targeted racially. Especially with the situation about the shooting of Daunte Wright & Black soldier being harassed by racist & ignorant police officer. amp.cnn.com theguardian.com youtu.be youtu.be Solider being charged with assault on black man. Black teenage girl being shot by the officer before the court verdict of the murder of George Floyd.

youtu.be Worst of all, young black girl being pepper sprayed by the police. google.co.uk

I mean, it is very sad & unbelievable. I wish Trunp didn’t win the presidency. Imagine if Donald Trump wasn’t elected in 2016 US Presidential election (endorsed by racists like KKK, Proud Boys & White supremacists) then none of all the events would had happened. m.youtube.com m.youtube.com Given he had been smearing Barack Obama racially about the fact that he (Obama) was America’s first black President with lies & nonsense stuff (birther conspiracy theory) that he (Obama) wasn’t born in the United States. youtu.be youtu.be youtu.be Everyone knows that for the fact that Barack Obama (44th US President) was born in America.

Plus yesterday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, justice have been served. The court verdict shows that the police officer Derek Chauvin is guilty of murder (who kneed on Mr Floyd’s neck to death).

I hope & pray this can be the beginning when real change does happen in USA. The cycle of racism must end. Racism (including systemic/institutional  racism, stereotypes & racial profiling) must be eradicated in America & the world & here in the UK. After all, racism (in all forms & other prejudice & discrimination) is never acceptable in all societies.

That’s why countries in the world should do more to fight racism and eliminate it completely once for all. No to racism in all forms. Racism and other forms of prejudice & discrimination makes us sick to our stomachs. I say this because I know my mother have endured racist period from her experience (& my mum’s family) when her country South Africa was under the racist government in the apartheid era. Even the United States with unpleasant history from slavery to Jim Crow segregation laws. Even European countries like the UK used to have slavery until the country (the UK which was the first country ever) to abolish it.

Finally, check out the song “Get your knees off my brothers’s neck” by my friend’s band the False Dots.

Also watch the US information film from the 1940s  called “Don’t be a sucker”.

That is all I can say about this topic about racism in all forms. No to racism & that we must keep on fighting racism.

I stopped watching wrestling

This blog post is going to be interesting blog post as I will talk to you about sports. Combative sports. Wrestling.

When you think of wrestling, you either think of Japanese wresting (Sumo) or Mexican wrestling or even American wrestling like World Wrestling Entertainment (better well known as WWE). WWE used to be called “WWF = World Wrestling Federation” until 2002 due to the confusion with the same name “WWF” = the name of the charity & international non governmental organisation World Wildlife Fund which they (charity) won a lawsuit over WWE. The result of it, they (WWE) ditched letter “f” & replaced with letter “e”.

Anyways my point is that I used to enjoy watching wrestling when I was a young. I first watched WWE on TV sometime in 2004. Nowadays especially in the last couple of years ago around 2015, I stopped having an interest to watching wrestling. ðŸ¤¼‍♀️🤼‍♂️🤼

The reason why was that I didn’t seem to have an interest anymore. I made my own personal decision. I don’t have the same enjoyment when I was a kid. Even if I occasionally watch the highlights of match on YouTube, I do not have an interest anymore to watch wrestling.

Wrestling matches are too combative. Especially in the format and storylines. Each time when wrestlers gets injured, the injury can be career ending & that the wrestler (he/she) would have no choice to retire from wrestling even the person wanted to continue wrestling. I read so many stories including that some wrestlers would be in trouble by taking steroids. It’s dangerous to have pump up a muscles while being an wrestler or any athlete in the sport business.

Most of all, when the message say “don’t try this at home” before and after the showing of wrestling match on Television, some people would do something reckless just to hurt themselves or others. When I watched wrestling shows (WWE & TNA now renamed as Impact Wrestling), all the matches were all just for storytelling. Although I will not get into any debate whether the wrestling is fake or not. I will say that wrestling in general is not kid friendly.

In depends which wrestling show do you watch for. WWE is PG rated (kid friendly) & it has been PG rated since 2008 (that means no wrestler would have to bleed with chair shots & weapons. Even in different match stipulations). In my opinion, children can watch wrestling shows like WWE but they need to understand that matches can end up in injury which could be career ending & that they should not try it at home. It is preferable that kids shouldn’t had to watch wrestling shows at all. Even if they aspire to become wrestlers one day when he/she grows up.

The point that I am making is when you watch wrestling shows like WWE, it will be on your mind & sometimes you can be addicted to it. That is not to say that person cannot be a fan of wrestling

Nobody doubts that it is competition sport. It is also a combat sport like boxing. Thanks goodness that I didn’t aspire to be a wrestler because it would meant that I would have to take risks of being a wrestler to wrestle with opponents while doing a lot of training to be the “best wrestler” to win matches & accomplishing championships while being a face (hero/good) or heel (villain/bad). That is when I watched WWE, I became familiar with wrestling glossaries (words) in the world of wrestling. Including Raw & Smackdown & PPVs like Royal Rumble, Wrestle-mania, Summer Slam & Survivor Series. It can be dangerous & risky business. Wrestling. Especially when wrestlers aspire to be on shows like WWE.

Even when I watched it for many years back, I recall watching the storyline around in 2007 between Vince McMahon (or Mr McMahon) battling against Donald Trump (yes, Donald Trump. Future US President who was doing his reality TV show the Apprentice back then given I had no idea who was that Donald Trump guy. Perhaps it was because we watched something whether is movies or TV shows that originated from America like Jerry Springer & Judge Judy)

So for my own experience, I felt that I enjoyed watching WWE. Now I don’t because it is not enjoyable. I know some people who do watch (my relative. My uncle = mum’s brother). My father even used to watch wrestling (WWE) as well so it seems we have something in common that we don’t watch wrestling.

During my time, I liked wrestlers & disliked wrestlers. There are so many I can think of. The list goes on so I’ll start the obvious ones who are well known.

Wrestlers I liked (even some I will mention are legends & some who still wrestle in the present day) were the Undertaker. Kane, Edge, Triple H, Batista. Randy Orton, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, HBK, Bert Hart, Kurt Angle & the Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson). Even today’s wrestlers like Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan & AJ Styles. Wrestlers I didn’t liked was John Cena (although I first liked him & then I didn’t liked whilst at the same time, I respected him because after all, it was storytelling in the wrestling business based on the character of wrestler & how he performed in the ring with opponents). I couldn’t think of anything other than Mr John Cena. Nowadays he doesn’t wrestle at much given ex wrestlers like Batista, John Cena and especially The Rock, would become successful movie actors in Hollywood.

Now I don’t even want to think of WWE or any type of wrestling because it is too combative & that was when I stop having interest in the world of wrestling as a fan.

My endorsement for 2021 London elections

Next couple of weeks, there will be local elections in England, Wales and Scotland.

It will be first time for awhile since we since last voted in 2016 previous local elections (particularly here in London for mayoral election & assembly election) and that the last election that we voted was 2019 nationwide general election just before Brexit & the coronavirus pandemic had occurred in the first months of last year 2020.

So let me start by giving my support for upcoming local elections here in London only. The rest I’ll do a blog post for another time about other elections taking outside London in Wales & Scotland.

2021 London Assembly election

In 2016, London assembly election was my first. At the time, I voted for Labour candidate Andrew Dismore when he was Labour AM (short for Assembly member for Barnet & Camden. I also voted for Mr Dismore as well in 2015 general election nationwide for Hendon parliamentary constituency) so my vote for Labour will remain the same as I will cast my vote to Anne Clarke. Barnet and Camden (London constituency) have been Labour for 9 years (nearly 10 years) so that there should remain a case.

Overall, there are 12 Labour Assembly Members in the London Assembly so I hope that can continue to be Labour being the biggest party as Londoners will go to the polls in next three weeks.

That brings me to the next paragraph.

2021 London Mayoral Election

Opinion polls shows that the current Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is highly certain that he will win his re election for second term.

My vote will be same as it was in 2016. This time, it will be other way round (given I know Sadiq Khan is likely to win a second term as London mayor). 2016 as I voted for first preference Labour (Khan) & second preference Green (Berry). 2021: First Preference. Green and second preference. Labour. In other words, I will vote for Sian Berry for first preference & Sadiq Khan for second preference.

That means my vote will go to Sian Berry first and Sadiq Khan second. As I did voted for Khan (first) & Berry (second). This will my be second mayoral election to participate.

As for Shaun Bailey, he doesn’t have any chances to win the London Mayoral election. He doesn’t have a great policies & that he is unpopular.

Even there are some people who aren’t impressed with Sadiq Khan as the mayor on some topics like knife crime & other political topics. For me, Shaun Bailey is no better (he was an adviser to David Cameron & that youth centres were closed when Cameron was the PM & when Boris Johnson was the Mayor of London) so I will give a vote for Sadiq Khan again. I have been Labour voter & supporter since 2014 so London mayor will remain Labour.

So there are two London elections that I will participate to vote.

Lastly, I want to tell you something about by council election in Barnet Council ward of Edgware.

Edgware and the Railway Hotel Pub

In my previous blog post about the Railway Hotel pub in Edgware, I talked about it & that everyone who lives in Edgware, should give a vote to my blogger friend Roger Tichborne who is running as Liberal Democrat candidate for a seat for Barnet Council. So for that, I hereby endorse my support to Roger even I do not live in Edgware. If I had lived there, I would give my vote to him.

change.org Currently, Mark Armies’s petition stands at 620 signatures. It really needs to reach 1000 signatures so that can gain more attention regarding about the neglected pub in Edgware. I had already signed the petition. If you haven’t signed the petition yet, then please click the link. Also if you are not aware of the Railway Hotel story in Edgware then please click the link to my blog post above.

So that is all I can say about local elections which are scheduled on 7th May 2021.

Why the UK immigration system is ungrateful?

Immigration. The sensitive topic that is complicated & divisive. For me, that shouldn’t be complicated or divisive at all. Especially as the son of immigrants from Africa (my mother - South African & my father - Nigerian).

So why the British immigration system is ungrateful?

Well I will tell you why?

Compare with the French immigration system. In 2018, The migrant from Mali who rescued a small child hanging from a baloney who was on the system as “illegal” had became legal by becoming a French citizen. Why? It was because of his heroic act of bravery. I am sure many of you had remembered the news story in 2018 & that he was nicked “Spider-Man”. google.co.uk He is now a firefighter in the fire service. His name is Mamoudou Gassama. en.m.wikipedia.org

Compare with the British Immigration system.

google.co.uk change.org theguardian.com

In 2017, Robert Chilowa (the migrant from Zimbabwe) who saved lives of children from fire, had been told that he had “outstayed his stay” in the UK & that was “no case to answer”. It was indeed “slap in the face” for Mr Chilowa & that he was going to be deported back to Zimbabwe. Now no one knows for sure what is he up to nowadays whether he is still in the country or had indeed been deported to Zimbabwe. Who knows.

If Robert Chilowa had really been deported, then that highlights why the immigration system in the UK is ungrateful. Saving children’s lives from fire in Manchester is way “wrong” & that he cannot be allowed to live in the UK due to his heroic act of bravery. I dunno, it is really shockingly unbelievable. Hostile environment.

Another reason why the immigration system is ungrateful in the UK is the recent scandal that happened few years ago. The Windrush scandal.

The Windrush scandal. 2018 political scandal in the UK that had wrongly deported Caribbean nationals (who were part of Windrush generation & even children of the Windrush generation who are now adults). The government had really screwed up big time. Under the Home Secretaries Theresa May & Amber Rudd. Those people who had came to the UK in 1948 all the way to early 1970s (at least before 1973) to settle in the country, building their new lives, contributing to the UK economy & rebuilding the country after years of Second World War that had ended in 1945. At the time, immigrants from British colonies like Caribbean, India & Africa had came to Britain for new opportunities & rebuilding the economy of the United Kingdom.

There were bigots, xenophobes and racists who didn’t wanted migrants from Commonwealth countries who were non white to be in the country by scapegoating them & blaming them on the ills of the society. British society & the way of life in Britain. Example: Enoch Powell’s controversial & outrageous 1968 “Rivers of Blood” speech. Enoch Powell for me in my opinion was the original “Nigel Farage”. No wonder Farage himself admired Powell for the speech that had divided opinion in the UK regarding Immigration. youtu.be youtu.be youtu.be youtu.be

Rabble Rouser admires Rabble Rouser. That’s demagogue.

Plus in the run up to the 2016 Brexit referendum, immigration was one of the big topic in the country.

Nigel Farage himself said in 2014 that he doesn’t want to “live next door to Romanian migrants”. google.co.uk Now, why would any person support the bigot like Farage? Believing that he is the “man of the people”? Answer: Conservative supporting newspapers (the Sun, Daily Express, Daily Mail, Telegraph). When the media outlets who are Tory & tabloid who reports nonsense non stop about immigration & putting fingers at migrants. That’s when the likes of Farage gets to be propped up, having so much of media air time just to sprout his rubbish point of view on immigration.

Nowadays as of the start of 2021, the United Kingdom has a points based immigration system. The policy that many politicians who are pro Brexit had always supported the ludicrous idea that will be an disadvantage for EU & non EU immigrants alike. Especially for first time ever that those who are from the EU countries (except Ireland) are treated the same as non EU migrants due to Brexit & that the UK is not an member of the European Union anymore & that the transition period had ended on 31st December 2020. The government doesn’t want any Foreign nationals taking any jobs that is low paid. They also want incoming ones to be able to speak English and at least earn 70 points to be granted entry to the country if he/she is coming to the UK to work now that is a skilled based.

I hope and pray that there shouldn’t be a Windrush style problem for EU citizens who are living & working in the UK. google.co.uk blogs.lse.ac.uk google.co.uk google.co.uk google.co.uk amp.theguardian.com ukandeu.ac.uk Given the EU citizens have gone to registered to be on the EU settlement scheme (settled status which is currently available until 30th June this year).

Lastly, if I was born elsewhere & I want to move to any country like the UK, I would want to live in the country where I can be treated with dignity and respect. For me, I wouldn’t choose the UK if I knew the system is cruelly ungrateful.

Immigration will always be sensitive topic. Without migrants from parts of the world, the British economy could very well collapse. Just look up right now at this moment as Foreign workers had left London for first time since WW2 due to the effects of Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic. bloomberg.com amp.theguardian.com google.co.uk reuters.com ft.com
