Save Eurostar part 2 (update)

I have a blog update about Eurostar.

So since I last wrote my blog about Eurostar given we know that it is not in good shape financially, the Transport Secretary Grants Shapps have recently said reported that Cross Channel train service (Eurostar) in quote “not our company to rescue”. In other words, Grant Shapps doesn’t even want to do something to save Eurostar from becoming nearly defunct which it will be heartbreaking for all of us who have used Eurostar train service from the UK to mainland Europe. If the government can bail out airlines like EasyJet, British Airways and Virgin Alantic as they had all been devastatingly affected by the effects of the Covid pandemic then the government should do the same. Bailing out Eurostar. google.co.uk 

Instead they (the govt) would rather let the French government to be the only ones to do something to save Eurostar. They (the UK government) need to stop being Brexity by finding a way to bail out Eurostar before it goes out of business. Defunct. Which will be a shame. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps aren’t interested of wanting to do something to rescue the Eurostar company as the jobs of employees are all at risk as we speak. Not just in London. Also in 3 European cities (Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris). 

Eurostar is joint European train service. Not just international train service who connects the UK to three European countries who are EU member states: France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Across the channel. The English Channel where there is Channel Tunnel. 

So what can you do to save Eurostar? 

There are three petitions. 

Parliament petition (for citizens and residents living in the UK only). “Work with the French government, to protect/save international rail travel”.

Finally as the person who travelled on the Eurostar train from London St Pancras to Paris Gare Du Nord in summer of 2019, it will be a shame (big shame) if the govt didn’t do anything to rescue European/international train service. No wonder shockingly, they would want Eurostar to go bust than doing something to act on saving the train service that everyone have been travelling between the UK and continental Europe since 1994. If that’s the case (Eurostar out of business) then UK passengers will visit Europe via one mode of transport (plane) once the pandemic is over. It’ll be the same for French, Dutch and Belgian passengers to visit the UK. I sincerely hope and pray that shouldn’t be the case. Going to three European destinations (Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam) without Eurostar.

Ethnic minorities being hesitant of taking Covid 19 vaccine

This blog post is important and advisory one & I want all of my readers to really understand it. Anybody (anti vaxx or not) including you. I am not really an expert on anything health or medical. After all, it is really a matter of life and death and we all experienced challenges in this very difficult times in the pandemic. Thanks for understanding. 

Now a blog post about ethnic minorities being hesitant to take Covid 19 vaccine. 

Now we all know that ethnic minorities have sadly & disproportionately died in the West (particularly the UK and the US) due to Covid 19. However if you compared Covid 19 deaths to Africa & Caribbean for example, blacks didn’t died that much that in Africa & Caribbean than Britain and America & any country in the West.

So with the fact that ethnic minorities had died more due to Covid 19 than white people, this is very concerning. Ethnic minority groups doesn’t want to take Covid 19 vaccine. 

We know the Tuskegee Syphilis Study that happened in Tuskegee, Alabama, USA from 1932 to 1972 was disgusting & racist method to test black Americans as if there is something wrong with them (& that if they have Syphilis).Unethical natural history study. cdc.gov 

But that shouldn’t stop anyone regardless of skin colour/ethnicity/race to take any vaccine including Covid 19 vaccine. No wonder disinformation, lies & bulls**t Covid 19 conspiracy theories (including nonsense claims of microchip & Bill Gates being a problem) destroy anyone’s faith, trust & chance to take a vaccine without factual & relevant information regarding Coronavirus. 

Like I said in the first paragraph, it is a matter of life and death. Coronavirus is not a joke. It is not fake. Any anti vaxxer & Covid denier who tell lies about Covid & vaccine in order to destroy any chance of any person taking a jab regard if the person is white or ethnic minority is a moronic imbecile. Anti vaxx & Covid deniers doesn’t know s**t. Mostly, I pay no attention to such nonsense. 

With Covid 19 vaccine already rolling out everywhere in the UK, Europe, the US & elsewhere, it is the sign that it could be the beginning of the end of the Covid pandemic. 

Furthermore, in December last year = 2 months ago (& even at the start of the pandemic last year), with the sad fact that people with ethnic minority background have died disproportionately in the West (the UK and the US), they won’t even want to take Covid jab, I seen some news report in BBC London news & US news including CNN that some of black (elderly back people being vaccinated in London & Black doctor/nurse in America who volunteered to be vaccinated). In the same BBC London news report I learned that there aren’t enough non white people (those with ethnic background to be there for a jab in GPS & Covid vaccination centres). All that lies, discrimination & conspiracy theories about Covid contributes to the reasons why people with ethnic minority group are being hesitant to take a dose of Covid vaccine. Given it is not mandatory but it is that everyone should stop having a fear about bulls**t claims of microchip, Bill Gates and all that nonsense.

Lastly, I want to tell you guys about Covid 19 vaccine. I advise that you should think about taking Covid 19 jab especially when it is your turn (unless you had a dose. First dose, second dose or both).  Now if you don’t want to take Covid 19 vaccine then you don’t have to take it. It’s your choice (& it is not mandatory & it won’t be mandatory. I hope that helps to clear any misunderstanding) & that you don’t want to be forced of taking a vaccine (which is fine as long you understand it’s necessary to fight coronavirus and to eradicate it so that the pandemic can finally be over) & if you really don’t think vaccines can fight Covid, then how are we going to cope without it? Perhaps they (Covid deniers & anti vaxx) should really come up with idea of how Covid can be defeated (actually no cos they don’t have one & that they have no logic. Just sprouting lies and rubbish. It’s almost they want Covid to keep on affecting people & more of Covid 19 deaths). After all, they are out of touch. They can believe what they want to believe. You are welcome to believe nonsense Covid 19 conspiracy theories, lies & disinformation (if you want to. Which I highly doubt it). 

If you want really want to see the end of Covid pandemic then my advice to anyone even if you are anti vaxx and Covid denier to stop believing the nonsense (if you are one of them = Covid denier & anti vaxx) & be willing to take Covid jab. The pandemic is not going to last long (whether it can end this year, next year or 2023, I don’t care) even if we are going to live with Covid. We all want normality back (not having to do social distance & wearing masks which both of them are necessary for our safety). It is that relevant facts & true information are needed. Not fake news, alternative facts, lies, conspiracy theory or any form of disinformation which all are toxic and dangerous. So yeah, keep on wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines for now.

And if you are ethnic minority (different backgrounds including black African/Caribbean, Asian, Arab, Indian, etc) & doesn’t want to take Covid 19 jab then please I beg you that you should reconsider and to be encouraged to take Covid 19 jab. No procrastination.

Yes, it is very upsetting fact that ethnic minorities had died and continue to die disproportionately from Covid 19. I say to you as an blogger with ethnic minority background (I am Black British with African roots). Don’t listen to any person (who is anti vaccine & Covid denier) who talks nonsensical crap about Covid. They have no idea of why they are believing such nonsense. You just focus on yourself. Not anyone. Just you. You don’t have to take Covid 19 jab it you don’t want to (especially if you have any health problems), it is not compulsory. So that is my recommendation for you to be advised to take a dose of Covid 19 vaccine. Don’t hesitate of taking it. It is up to you.

So that is all I can say about this matter. It’s difficult subject I wrote a blog post regarding ethnic minorities hesitating to take a Covid jab & believed the lies.

UK: Post Brexit future with CPTTP & CANZUK

So it has been a month since the UK is out of the EU economic structures: the Single Market and the Customs Union given the transition period ended on 31st December 2020 (New Year’s Eve) as we (the Brits) are out of the EU (which now it has already been a year since 31st January 2020). 

So what is the government governed by Boris Johnson up to now? 

Well for long time since 2018, the government have been wanting to apply to join the trade bloc of 11 countries that there are in Asia Pacific. Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership

There are Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam. These 11 countries are Pacific Rim countries. Seriously, why the UK government would want to be part of CPTPP knowingly that we are not in the pacific geographically? They (the govt) have not done their research well & that they should go back to the drawing board & really reconsider before going ahead with it. Well unfortunately the government have already done. Applied formally to be part of the trade bloc (CPTPP) as of 1st February 2021. 

And then there’s that proposed idea of the CANZUK Union/alliance with 4 countries. Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom = CANZUK. 

Conservatives and Brexiteers support that proposed ludicrous idea with the UK having a Union with 3 fellow Anglosphere countries (Australia, New Zealand and Canada). 

In the next two blog posts, I’ll talk more about CPTPP and CANZUK whether it is better alternative than the EU membership (spoiler alert, it’s no better). So stay tuned for that in next upcoming days.

Mr T: The man who pity the fools

Mr T: The man who pity the fools. 

This is not really a biography about Mr T. Other than expressing my admiration about him. 

So what do I know about the man who is famous for catchphrases like “quit your Jibber Jabber” & “I pity the fool”? 🙂

Well Mr T is well known for third Rocky Balboa film (Rocky 3) played the character of boxer Clubber Lang, wrestling (WWE. Back then in the 80s it was then called WWF), the A Team (80s TV show) played the character of B.A. Baracus, his catchphrases including “quit your Jibber Jabber” & “I pity the fool”  and 2007 Snickers TV advert/commercial.

His real name is Lawrence Tureaud.

I didn’t know anything about Mr T until one day I saw 2007 Snickers TV advert on Telly (British informal word for TV). That’s how I got to know who is that Mr T guy. youtu.be Driving on war tank, throwing Snickers chocolate bar at the guy who faked his injury on football pitch. Which I loved the advert & having a interest to eat Snickers bar when Mr T said at the end of the TV commercial. “Snickers, get some nuts”. Which was a slogan for Snickers brand. “Get some nuts”. 

Then I would later on watch third Rocky film Rocky 3 (which Mr T became well known after playing boxer Clubber Lang, boxing against Rocky Balboa played by Sylvester Stallone) which the film was released in 1982 and the A Team (1980s TV show although I seen some episodes but I couldn’t remember the names of episodes that I watched). youtu.be youtu.be

and Mr T is “take no nonsense” type of guy and that he is motivational who do inspire everybody.

Genuine role model. That is why I do admire him. I used to wear a T shirt of Mr T given I am fan of him, his personality and his work. 😀

Have you achieved your New Year’s Resolutions yet?

This blog post is going to be an interesting topic. New Year’s Resolutions. 

I know we just entered February given that January is always the month that everyone thinks about having a resolutions for the New Year. Resolutions. Waiting until January to start thinking about a goal & plan for the new year in order to be different than the old year. 

Well I am going to tell you this. Have you yet achieved your New Year’s Resolutions? 

After all you want really to achieve your goals for this year right? 

Well I say go for it as long as it’s realistic, specific  and desirable. 

My advice is this: Do not have New Year’s Resolutions that is unrealistic, undesirable, unspecific and un-achievable. 

Example: You want to lose your weight by setting out plans that you’ll stop eating unhealthy food & to go to gym (although at this moment, you cannot do so due to Covid but you can still find a way to exercise). Then next thing, you either forgot about it or that you aren’t able to take action in order to turn it into the results.

Don’t be all talk without any specific action. You cannot make promises that you cannot keep. For me I don’t have any New Year’s Resolutions because I do not need to have one (unless of course if I want to achieve something for this year for example). The point is you do not have to wait until January to have New Year’s Resolutions. 

You can have your own priories/life goals to set out of what you really want to achieve in areas of your life. You just prioritise and being realistically determined that you want really want to achieve something that can be achievable to gain results of your specific life goal and aspiration. Not just this year but all years to come. So yeah, you don’t really need to wait until January to have New Year’s Resolutions when you know that you do have your own targets/life goals and that you have a desire to do whatever you want to do. 

Good start for America and Joe Biden

New day, new week in the new year. 

Goodbye Donald Trump and hello Joe Biden. 

Last week was US Inauguration Day on Wednesday 20th January 2021. This week is first full week for the new American president and the new Vice President. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. 😀🇺🇸🙂

After 4 chaotic years of the Trump presidency, Joe Biden started his presidency by signing executive orders. Reversing every single Trump policies & executive orders. 

From racist travel ban (Muslim ban). Reversed

US withdrawal from Paris climate agreement/accord. Reversed as America has the president who is not climate change denier. 

US withdrawal from the WHO (World Health Organisation). Reversed. At least it didn’t really happened despite Trump foolishly announced last year that America would leave WHO because of the mismanagement of his handling of the Covid 19 situation in the United States. 

The construction of Trump border wall. Stopped. No more further construction of the wall at the US - Mexico Border Wall which was Donald Trump’S flagship policy. Plus Trump have never achieved of having it build and getting the Mexican government to pay for it which they said many times that they won’t pay for it. Also an end to family separation at the border given the Trump administration was so cruel & putting children in detention cages due to the bulls**t family separation policy. Martin Luther King Jr once said “Let’s build bridges, not walls”.

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Strengthened. Trump and Republicans really wanted to get rid of Obamacare for years & they have not succeed. At least with the Democrats in the White House and the Congress (House and Senate), it is protected and safeguarded. Also America should really start the path to gradually having a universal healthcare because healthcare in America is expensive. Here in the UK & Europe, healthcare is free. Universal healthcare is something that nobody has to pay when going to the doctor, GP or hospital. America should really stop believing that free healthcare won’t work. Even Canada has a free universal healthcare. 

Controversial Keystone XL Pipeline. Revoked. That makes perfectly sense for Joe Biden to reverse Trump’s decision to allow Keystone XL Pipeline because originally Barack Obama didn’t allowed it to happen as he didn’t grant it unless Trump came in office 4 years ago. As it is an environmental concern. Now the Canadian govt were devastated about Biden’s decision. 

Finally the Coronavirus pandemic. Everyone wearing a face mask = mandatory. Including in federal government buildings. 

So a very good start for Joe Biden. The 46th President of the United States. Signed 15 executive orders in one day.

I am happy to say that America is back. Back and free from the presidency of chaos. I hope America will be able to repair the relationship with US allies Europe given it was undermined by Trump, being in the strong position to handle the Covid situation better and restoring America’s reputation in the world. 

The America that we know given we watched films (Hollywood), TV shows & listened to music from USA. Culturally, politically and economically. 

Best of luck to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The new US President and the new US Vice President. I am rooting for their successes including finding ways to deal with the Covid pandemic & America being a world leader again as it is world superpower, largest economy and the beacon of hope. 🙂🇺🇸😀 No more of craziness from the last president (Trump). Normality & sensibility are back in the US politics.

Save Eurostar

It’s not easy during the difficult time in the pandemic when nobody uses public transport. This was the case for TFL (Transport For London) in London which they (TFL) & Mayor of London (Sadiq Khan) were eventually being given with the bailout (financial money rescue package) by the government in order to keep things afloat due to the effects of the Covid pandemic when nobody used the Tube (London Underground) & public buses during March 2020 lockdown except for key workers. 

Now another public transport service is in financial trouble. Eurostar.

As the person who loves trains and had travelled on Eurostar train from London St Pancras station to Paris Gare Du Nord station in August 2019, action is required for both governments of France and the UK. Also governments of the Netherlands and Belgium. 

The French government have already got started to find a way to do something to save Eurostar & that they want to talk to the UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps. Which the British govt are yet to do something in order to bail out Eurostar. 

Eurostar is joint European train service (cross Channel train service). It travels to 4 countries: the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. It is owned 55% by the French company SNCF & that the government under David Cameron sold off Eurostar (privatised it’s stake in 2015).  google.co.uk 

So since it is an international high speed rail service that travels between the United Kingdom and continental Europe, number of passengers have dropped 95% in last year 2020 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Meaning the Eurostar train service is close to being out of business. 

Unless action is taken, Eurostar services that connects the UK to mainland Europe will collapse & that there won’t anymore train coming from European destinations (Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam) to St Pancras train station. In other words, if we want to travel to 3 European nations (France, Belgium and the Netherlands) then the only mode of transport will be travelling on the plane if Eurostar is out of service. 

I hope there shouldn’t really be the case. The last thing we need is to see the beloved Eurostar service going out of the business even if nobody is travelling at the moment in very difficult times. So all I can say is Save Eurostar. 🇬🇧🇫🇷🇧🇪🇳🇱🇪🇺🚄

The British government should talk to the French and see that there can be solutions to save Eurostar before it’ll eventually collapse. I hope in many years to come post Covid, I’ll be happy to travel on the Eurostar train again to Paris & other destinations in mainland Europe.
