Crossrail: Finally to be launched

Ah Crossrail.

Everybody has been waiting for the launch of Crossrail for many years. I have been waiting for it as well.

Since I am an Londoner, I will tell you what is Crossrail for those who does not live in London but either heard or not heard of Crossrail.

What is Crossrail?

I’ll quote it from Crossrail Wikipedia page.

Crossrail is a railway construction project underway in central London. Its aims is to provide a high frequency suburban passenger service crossing the capital from west to east, by connecting two major railway lines terminating in London, the Great Western Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line. The project was approved in 2007, and construction began in 2009 on the central section and connections to the existing lines that will become part of the route, to be branded the Elizabeth Line.”

Currently, at the time of this writing, TFL rail is in operation and it has been in operation since May 2015. It won’t be long before it will be renamed as Elizabeth Line by the end of June this year 2022. It is the biggest rail infrastructure project in Europe.

It was originally going to be launched in autumn 2018, it didn’t happened due to delays. Then it was in 2019. Didn’t happened due to delays again. Even two years in the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Well everybody is tired of waiting.

Furthermore, this dates back to the 90s. Early 90s which the date for Crossrail was scheduled in the year 1991 - 31 years ago.

Click the link about the original scheduled Crossrail date in the 1990s

At least I hope and pray that it will finally be launched in June (first half of this year 2022) & hopefully no more delays. It is really a long overdue. Over three years late (four years late or should I say 31 years late) with any long delays, it  is finally on the way to be launched in London in the first half of 2022.

I can’t wait to go on the ride with TFL (soon to be Elizabeth Line) rail train. 🚆🙂😀
