US Immigration, Trump & Biden

Recently I published a blog post about the fact that America is the land of immigrants and will always be the land of immigrants. America is the land of immigrants and will always be the land of immigrants.

So today I would like to talk about the previous American president’s position on immigration. None other than the racist and bigot. Donald Trump (45th US President). In fact, I recall tweeting about it on Twitter in the run up to last year’s US Presidential election so I thought I can added it on my blog. Here we go.

Donald Trump’s opinion on immigration and why his view was so controversially racist and outrageous.

Immigration: So with Donald Trump being hardliner on the sensitive complicated topic (Immigration), as well being xenophobic & racist. Trump says that he is against illegal immigration. Well due to his immigration policies, it affects both legals and illegals.

He always been saying for years that he (Trump) wants the border wall to be built at the US - Mexico border so that Mexico can pay for it (which was not happening & we all knew that was very ludicrous to get it done when Trump was the president) to prevent “illegal immigration”. He broken up families at the US - Mexico border, separating children from parents and detaining them (child migrants) at the immigration detention centres. The same Donald Trump who called them immigrants from Mexico “drug dealers, criminals and rapists” in 2015. youtu.be

Also after becoming inaugurated as the president, Donald Trump signed the executive order, launched controversial travel ban (muslim ban) that impacted mainly Muslims countries in Middle East.

He (Trump) is against DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), & that he undermined it which ends up in the Supreme Court, affecting DACA recipients & dreamers. He tried to find a way to get rid of it completely despite his effort was not accepted by Supreme Court and for that, he was not successful. Donald Trump when he was in the White House for 4 years.

Also Donald Trump wanted to end chain migration (family based immigration which US citizen or legal permanent resident/green card holder can bring his/her family members: parent, sibling, child, spouse to the US). Well Melania Trump’s parents came to the US via chain migration from Slovenia. So it makes no sense for Trump to oppose chain migration when his wife Melania have been US citizen since 2006. Plus Donald Trump’s family roots originated from Germany (Donald Trump’s grandfather) and Scotland (Donald Trump’s mum). For that he was also not successful to end the chain migration.

He (Donald Trump) selfishly even wanted to end US birthright citizenship =  Jus soli (when the child is born in the US given it doesn’t matter if parent is US citizen or non US citizen mostly foreign nationals) & wanting to restrict it. At least that didn’t happen.

And finally, Donald Trump wanted to turn the US immigration system into points based system (merit based system) which he spoke about but haven’t made action to launch it. He wants to get rid of the Diversity Immigrant Visa program (Green card lottery) as he is against Green cards

BTW did you know Donald Trump’s business the Trump Organisation hires many undocumented workers to work at his golf properties as housekeepers? Yet Trump is on about “illegal migration”, “building the wall” & all that nonsense. Completely hypocrisy from pathological liar. 🤥

So yeah. Trump is totally against immigration and I am glad that he didn’t win the second term when he lost to Joe Biden & still to this day, complaining about it. Saying the 2020 election was “stolen”, “hoax”, etc. He really has no shame and empathy.

And that brings me to the current occupant of the White House. Joe Biden (46th US President).

Biden’s position on Immigration.

Joe Biden ended the racist muslim ban, building the wall at the US - Mexico border stopped. Committed to keep DACA the land of the law & not allowing it to be repealed. Given when Joe Biden was the US Vice President under Barack Obama.

However couple of weeks ago, I was very disappointed to hear Joe Biden & the whole Biden Administration handling awfully bad about the situation with the Haitian migrants when they were being whipped by US Border Patrol officers in Texas. reuters.com google.co.uk

I really wondered why Biden keeps the Trump era immigration policy that disadvantages the migrants (legal and illegals) by deporting them without court hearing (& Covid 19 being used as an excuse). That is way worse than breaking up families and detaining child migrants at the immigration camp facilities.

Joe Biden is supposed to be different than Trump since everybody knows that he (Donald Trump) is racist. Whipping refugees and asylum seekers from Haiti in the US state of Texas was shocking and uncalled for. I really hope that Joe Biden can do better than being foolish to keep Trump era immigration policy. No wonder his approval ratings are already low because of the Afghanistan situation given we know that he handled it very badly.

And why is Kamala Harris saying to those who want to the United States, saying “do not come”? youtu.be

We all understand immigration is a sensitive topic and anyone should follow the rules the right way legally but at the same time, we should understand someone’s situation of why the person comes to any country in the world whether is the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc without having to be so ignorant. Unfortunately for the Biden White House, they are behaving as if they are Trump in disguise. As if Donald Trump is still in the presence as the US President in the White House.

I am not happy with Joe Biden about his stance on immigration in terms of the handling the matter at the US - Mexican Border in Del Rio, Texas with Haitians being whipped. It is very unbelievable.

So yeah, that is the comparison between Biden and Trump on immigration. US immigration.
