Malta Guinness: The brand you never heard of

When person say Guinness, everyone knows the well known Irish alcoholic brand of beer. ☘️🇮🇪🍺

But when the person say “Malta Guinness”, no one has ever heard of the brand unless if you happened to be from West Africa 🇬🇭🇳🇬 or you know the brand because you either have parents or know someone who is from countries in West Africa like Ghana, Nigeria, etc. it is mainly because of the fact that Malta Guinness brand is not widely well known outside West Africa.

Now you may be wondering what is Malta Guinness?

Malta Guinness is a malt drink. It’s an non alcoholic sweet drink. It is produced by Diageo.

Produced in Nigeria and exported to the UK, Malaysia and east Africa. Also South Africa as a well since the sale of Malta Guinness are available in Johannesburg.

And no Malta Guinness does not come from the country Malta 🇲🇹 despite two words “Malta” & “Guinness” are mixed into together as an non alcoholic version of the Guinness brand. In other words, Malta Guinness is a variety of the brand Guinness. So Malta Guinness brand originates from Nigeria. 🇳🇬In addition, there is an company who is called Guinness Nigeria.

And finally here is the interesting fact about Malta Guinness. The first country who launched Malta Guinness in the year 1984 was Cameroon. 🇨🇲

So when you taste the drink of soft drink Malta Guinnesss, it is basically tasted like a root beer. I first tasted the drink couple of years ago when I was dining at the Ghanaian restaurant in Burnt Oak.

Malta Guinness has an information for ingredients: Carbonated water, sugar, maize, sorghum, Bartley Malt Extract, sorghum malt, caramel, hops from stabiliser and B vitamins. I highly recommend if you want to drink a cold Malta Guinness, store it in cold fridge. The brand really does have finest ingredients and vitamins that can make you go wow with a “top of the world” feeling. Both bottle and cans are 330ml each. Zero fat, zero salt, zero sodium, zero dietary fibre.

Although within Malta Guinness typical nutrition information, there are sugar (I wouldn’t recommend any person if you do have diabetes or that you are going on diet in order to cut down on sugar. Just saying. Sugar = 11 grams), energy, protein (0.3 gram) and carbohydrates (14 grams).

I know there are plenty of shops (some are corners shops & African shop) that sells Malta Guinness in some places in London including Finchley, Colindale, Hackney, Abbey Wood & some places where are the presence of people who are originally from Nigeria or any part of Africa. Particularly West African countries like Ghana.

So here are the TV adverts/commercials that are not aired in the UK. Only in West Africa.

And here’s more information about Malta Guinness if you are interested. http://katoenterprises.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Malta-Guinness-UK-Stock-V6.pdf

Most of the photos I attached are my own photos that I took on my phone except the ones that I found on Google images. So yeah, I highly recommend everyone to get to know Malta Guinness & start drinking it.

I now have my Ko Fi account

Man, where I have been. I have not written any blog post since my first blog post of this month about Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the UK

I have been busy doing things in my own personal stuff & finding a job (especially this day and age with cost of living crisis as I have been struggling to find a job since 2019 prior to the covid pandemic which I am sure you guys are aware of it if you have reading my blog posts for a long time). At least I am happy to be back writing blog posts even I had took a break (& there is no shame in that but it is important for me as an blogger to keep writing blog regularly to engage with you my dear readers).

Anyways I do have an blog announcement that I want to inform you guys.

Today I opened my account on the website called Ko Fi Click the link to my account profile page.

What is Ko Fi

I will explain to you what is Ko Fi

It’s the site where many content creators earn money as part of income & donations from fans/followers.

I see many people on YouTube including trainspotters who promote their work by advertising on YouTube description on their channels.

It’s like Google Adsense but it is more of earning money by receiving donations from fans as they’ll buy “coffees” for the person they are following as earnings.

So for me, I have thought of an account there for months ago. Now today is the day I joined Ko Fi so that I can engage with many more people like you on any platform. You see, last year as you recall when I spent months of waiting for Adsense to show advertisement here on my blog (as you are seeing one while reading this latest blog post) & that it had finally happened on June 2021 when I earned my first Adsense earning. Fast forward to now, I am not earning amount of money that much so I had made my own decision to find another source of money earning site and that is where I found Ko Fi site. The site for many different type of content creators.

As always, I appreciate everybody who has been reading my blog since day one and if you do want to show your support to my blog, you can go to my account page on Ko Fi. Thank you so much. 😀🙂

Now I got to get back of planning to write for upcoming blog posts so please stay tuned for that. ✍️💻

My thoughts on Platinum Jubilee

Today is the day 1 of Platinum Jubilee bank holiday celebrations. 🇬🇧💷👑

It has started today & will finish on Sunday.

My thoughts on Platinum Jubilee

It is a remarkable that the Queen has reached an incredible milestone. 70 years of reigns on the throne. Queen Elizabeth II - First ever British monarch have three jubilees: Sliver Jubilee (1977), Golden Jubilee (2002), Diamond Jubilee (2012) and Platinum Jubilee (2022). All I can say is congratulations to the Queen. That is something it can be acknowledged. Lifetime of duty to public services. I am not really royalist or Republican so I don’t say anything much about the Royal Family.

Anyway regarding Platinum Jubilee celebrations, I wonder to myself, why the once in lifetime Jubilee celebration while this country is going through tough times financially and economically due to inflation, rising bills & the cost of living (which are the fallouts of the Covid pandemic) as effects of Brexit & 12 years of austerity cuts under three Tory Prime Ministers (Cameron, May & Johnson). There’ll be some people may not want to celebrate jubilee & that is okay.

And to be bluntly honest. The last couple of years regarding politics which the divisive topic (Brexit) have torn the country apart & the fact I was once once victimised of racism despite growing up in the UK & that I lived through two jubilees (Golden & Diamond), this year’s Platinum is not something I can confidently say I am proud to be British. That may be the case in 2012 at the time there were two major events: Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 games (Olympics & Paralympics) but 4 years later with the unnecessary & divisive referendum result in 2016 (obviously I am talking about Brexit) & the despicable politicians (the likes of Farage, Boris Johnson, etc) & me being victimised of racism, it is not really the same. The sense of feeling proud to be British.

Now I am not saying don’t be proud to be British, be proud of being British if you want to but the sense of being happy to be Brit in my opinion has gone away long time. Being hijacked by the conservative media outlets. No wonder there are some type of people who do claim to be proud of being British & yet showing his/her true colours by being racist & xenophobic bigot. That is not patriotic. Being patriot means you care about the country. It is not about flag waving or showing love & admiration to the monarchy. It is about doing something to improve the country with action so racism & any form of prejudicial discrimination is the opposite of patriotism. I have to say as someone who is British born African who has parents from Commonwealth countries (Nigeria & South Africa).

In addition to that regarding Jubilee celebrations 2022 is the different year than 2012, 2002 or even 1977 or 1952. If it wasn’t for Brexit or politics in general regarding the rise of food banks caused by austerity & higher bills due to inflation & cost of living crisis then maybe I would had been proud to say that I am happy to be British. I even talked about in my previous blog post about the idea of adopting UBI to fix the welfare system & helping the poor & feeding the poor.

And lastly, the two last years has been very tough for us due to the Coronavirus pandemic & that we all equally suffered globally. Now there is no panic about Covid apart from moneypox (which is not really fatal disease like Covid 19) so we won’t have to experience anymore lockdowns except the fact that Boris Johnson is under severe pressure regarding the partygate scandal which I will talk more about it in the upcoming days.

So that is all I can say about my thoughts on Platinum Jubilee. Enjoy yourselves regardless whether you do celebrate or not. Have a day everybody.

2nd birthday blog message

Yesterday I have completed my birthday message.

I thought I want to share this to you my blog readers. This is second time that I am doing so. I wrote my my first blog message on my birthday at the time when I celebrated 6 months of my blog that it was launched in November 2020.

It says in the following.

Hi everybody

Hope you are well.

27 years of age as today is my birthday.

This year’s birthday is the important birthday. Two years of the covid pandemic, normality have been restored as vaccines were distributed globally including here in the UK (although please bear in mind that the pandemic is not over). In the previous year I received three doses of the covid Pfizer vaccine. Both doses in the summer & one booster dose in the winter leading up to the Christmas celebrations. Now the fallout of the pandemic is rising inflation & high cost of living which I will not talk anything about it.

Also this week is the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday celebrations for the Queen so today’s date (30th May) is the start of the week. With that, it is both celebrations for myself & the Queen. Not that I want to be member of the Royal Family or anything. 😀🎂😅👑💂‍♀️

And recently in the weekend, I went on the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) from Paddington to Abbey Wood. Many years of delay & original scheduled dates, it was so overdue given it is the biggest construction project in Europe. Now it will contribute to the UK economy.

So thank you for everybody for wishing me a happy birthday so far. Keep on wishing me a great one (in case if you haven’t wished me a “happy birthday” yet). Thanks and god bless you all.

Time to adopt UBI

Have you heard of UBI (universal basic income)?

It is form of welfare & social security & that it is not means tested & that everyone can get the money unconditionally from the government regardless if person is in job or not. Wealthy or not.

Some people do get The UBI (universal basic income) from birth to death.

There are pros & cons about UBI.

Pros - good thing

Those who supported UBI believe it can solve the problems of inequality & poverty.

Cons - bad thing

Those who are against UBI reckons that someone could make unwise spending decision (like buying alcohol) & creating inflation.

Many famous people, politicians & public figures who endorsed the idea of universal basic income: MLK (Martin Luther King Jr), Danny DeVito, Nelson Mandela, Richard Nixon, Albert Einstein, Mark Zuckerberg, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, John McDonnell, Andrew Yang, Bill Gates, Tim Berners Lee, Ed Miliband, Elon Musk, Richard Benson, Barack Obama. The list goes on.

Businesses like Facebook & economists backed the idea for UBI.

Although it's new to us but it is actually idea from 17th century.

So what is my opinion on UBI? Well here what I really feel about Universal Basic Income.

I think we really got to realise that sooner or later, robots will take over our jobs everywhere in the world and that it will mean job losses. Right now at this moment as we are currently dealing with inflation, supply chain crisis & rising cost of living which are the fallouts of the Covid pandemic which we had gone through for the last two years and that normality has been resumed. It is that we are experiencing inflation & the possibility of financial recession.

Now I cannot speak for the world but here in the UK, 12 years of austerity plus the effects of Brexit have really hit us hard financially with bills rising & yet the government & PM Boris Johnson are so caught up in the partygate scandal due to the fact they really mishandled the covid situation & that they partied while the rest of us had to obey the strict lockdown rules. Plus a year ago I talked about the the messed up benefit system in the UK that relates to cuts to welfare, sanctions on benefit claimants who do suffer the most & the appalling altitude of the DWP (government department who is responsible for social security affairs in the United Kingdom) and food banks on the rise since 2010

You know what I really think about it? The government is not taking care of us the British people in Britain. Imagine if we got UBI then everyone will have a money to survive & that it can eliminate poverty, inequality & even homelessness. It can create entrepreneurship. With UBI, it can create a social and economic value rather than the current welfare system whether here in the UK or anywhere in the world. My friend of mine who is from Czech Republic told me that neighbouring EU country Germany takes of citizens. Meaning the welfare system there is better than the UK

I even said previous in my blog post that remote working is here to stay due to the wide popularity during the coronavirus pandemic where people were zooming in for anything including business meetings & it is still the case to this day even if Covid is under control & normality is already restored. When robots does take over, expect many people to continue doing remote working outside the offices because I know it will not go away. Working from home.

So that is why I firmly believe eventually, UBI will be adopted globally & it will be accepted in our societies.

Barnet is now Labour

Last few weeks, I recall talking about the local elections in the UK. Local council elections that were held in England, Scotland and Wales. Also the Stormont election in Northern Ireland & local council elections in Greater London.

I talked about only one London Borough that was going through the wind of the change & that is London Borough of Barnet.

Last week’s election in Barnet was an referendum on Capita not just the Barnet Conservatives. I did say watch this space & that confirmed what I was saying in my previous blog post. The Tories didn’t had a good local council election results in Britain. England, Wales and Scotland. Lost many councillors all because of the partygate scandal & the unpopularity of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

So I am happy to say as Barnet resident, I am glad that the Tories are no longer in charge of Barnet. Barnet is now Labour. 🌹

I knew the days were near for the Barnet Tories given Barnet have been Conservative for very long time. 20 years of Conservative control. No other political party have governed Barnet rather than the Conservatives since it’s creation in 1964 except only one time when it was NOC under Labour and Liberal Democrat between 1994 and 2002.

Now I can relax easily especially after my experience with Capita 6 years ago when it was under Conservative administration regarding the 2016 freedom pass fiasco. Since Barnet Tories have lost Barnet to Labour, I have been singing the song last week. It goes like this. It’s famous song that has been used in sports. Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye. A song for Capita 😅🎵🎶 https://youtu.be/jsaTElBljOE

Now my friend Roger of the Barnet Eye blog (who was running for the Barnet council seat in Mill Hill as Lib Dem candidate) released a song couple of years ago called Kick Out Capita Now it’s time that Capita’s desk is to be cleared out.

And lastly, Broken Barnet blogger known as “Mrs  Angry” had written blog post prior to last week’s council election in Barnet & I believed her blog post was the comprehensive blog post that I ever came across regarding the local politics in Barnet. Read more about her blog post For the past two local elections, I took part of exercising my democratic duty to vote in 2014 and 2018 local elections. The third one (last week’s election) which I took part was life changing & history making election. This is something that everybody will remember it for many years to come. After all, the victory of 2022 local election in Barnet was everyone who are residents in Barnet including myself.

Save the date: Crossrail to be launched on 24th May

Couple of months ago I first talked about Crossrail here on blog post February this year

Now three months later, the exciting news finally with the date that can be on Tuesday 24th May 2022. The launch date of the Elizabeth Line. Currently it serves as TFL Rail. I am excited and hopefully I will go on the ride with Elizabeth Line purple train soon

However what you need to know before the opening date later this month is that it will be three separate lines of Elizabeth Line. From London Liverpool Street Station to Shenfield. From Paddington to two destinations: Heathrow and Reading and Paddington to Abbey Wood.

Here is the map.

And here would be the map from next year.

So yeah. Save the date by writing it on your calendar and diary. Especially if you are train lover like myself. All aboard. Elizabeth Line known as Crossrail. 🚄🚆🙂😀

GE2024: The Tories’s last stand

Well, well, well. The UK will have a general election after all & the election date is tomorrow. 4th of July coinciding with US Independ...
